Noh 〜rediscovering the tradition〜

Experience the basic elements of Noh by workshop, and the traditional stage of Noh will enable you to rediscover the power of tradition

Rediscover the Power of Tradition. People are moved by“ wonder.” Wonder is born through “discovery.” In Part 1 of this program, allow yourself to experience the essence of Nohgaku through Shimai (dance) Utai (song) and Hayashi (instrumentation) where you will “discover” unconventional ways to use your body, voice and music. Then, in Part 2 enjoy Noh“ Funabenkei” performed as a full Noh by the Kita School. Join us to put aside thoughts of the every day and think anew about the power of tradition as we offer you this full day immersion of the Noh experience.

Part 1 : Workshop
Lead by young professionals from the Kita School of Noh and professional Noh instrumentalists, all workshop participants will have the opportunity to experience first hand Shimai (dance), Utai (song), Fue (flute), Kotsuzumi (shoulder drum), Otsuzumi (hip drum) and Taiko (stick drum).
